For lots of people, a coffee machine that creates a single cup of coffee at a time is just fine. Occasionally, people want a bigger size drink or the ability to split a big drink into two smaller ones. But then there are the heavy-duty coffee drinkers or the people with a number of cups waiting for a refill.

Now there’s a solution to help. The Keurig Carafe works with the Keurig K-Duo brewing system and is the perfect way to handle those lots of coffee situations where a cup or two just won’t do!
How does the Keurig Carafe work?
There are plenty of carafes on the market in all kinds of colours, sizes and styles. What makes the Keurig Carafe different is that it is designed to work with their Keurig K-Duo brewing system. Yes, that means you can use K-pods with it but there are also more options.
Using the Keurig Carafe with the machine is simple. You pop the carafe into place which locks it into the machine. The coffee news through the lid so it is easy and convenient and then once it is finished, remove the carafe and serve the coffee.
You can also use the normal customisation settings on the Keurig machine to make the coffee just as you want it inside the carafe. Using the big jug style holder simply allows you to make more of it at one time.
What’s the coffee like?
Now as a coffee connoisseur, I know you’ll be wondered what the quality of the coffee is like. Does the big size impact how good the drink tastes?
The key to getting the best quality drink is to use the right K-pods for the job (more on those in a moment). That’s because the larger size K-pods are filled with more coffee to ensure the strength and taste of the drink is the same in the larger size container and doesn’t suffer from being weakened.
There’s also lots of brands now making compatible K-pods in the larger size. This means there’s plenty of options to try and find just the perfect coffee that will be enjoyed by everyone – or that you can just drink a lot of in a shorter time!
The original Keurig Carafe was a plastic container and it did okay at keeping coffee hot but not for long. However, the new model is made from stainless steel and is a thermal double-walled design that does much better at keeping coffee warm. It can keep it within 5 degrees of the initial temperature for 30 minutes after brewing.
The reusable filter
Now one of the big complaints about the Keurig Carafe is that getting the K-pods isn’t always easy, despite the company saying there’s a big range of them. But that doesn’t mean it is a no-go area because of the reusable filter.
A reusable filter lets you use your own favourite type of coffee and add it to a small gadget that looks a bit like a super-sized K-pod. This then fits into the machine in place of the pod and is used to create the coffee.
So it also means that you can use any of your favourite coffees and get the benefit of brewing a larger pot all at one time.
Ideally, you should use medium-coarse, medium or medium-fine coffee for this type of product. Avoid the grinds at either end of the scale as these might either get stuck in the filter or simply flow straight through into the carafe below.
Do you really need a Keurig Carafe?
Not everyone will want to grab a Keurig carafe. For example, we tend to use a coffee machine with a single-serve pod most of the time because everyone likes different drinks. But if you all want to drink the same coffee at the same time, then investing in a carafe, especially if you already have a compatible machine, can be a great solution.
